What do candle toppers do

Without an Illuma-Lid, there was a lot of black soot on the sides of the glass at the top of the candle jar. When I use an Illuma-Lid there is very little soot on the jar. Without an Illuma-Lid, the flame would flicker and create some black smoke.

When I use an Illuma-Lid on my jar candles, the flame stays steady and I do not notice much black smoke at all. As the Yankee Candle jar candle candle burns, the flame can flicker and this causes black smoke to puff up from the candle. As the candle burns black soot also forms on the glass walls of the candle. The Illuma-Lid helps to stop these common issues. I burned about half the candle without a Illuma-Lid. There was a lot of soot on the top of the candle jar from burning the first half of the candle.

I extinguished the candle and let it cool. I trimmed the wick and cleaned the soot off of the candle jar with a paper towel. I then burned the second half of the candle with the Illuma-Lid. I was amazed that very, very little soot accumulated on the jar after I used the Illuma-Lid. For example, a three-inch pillar candle should be burned for a minimum of three hours each time that you burn it.

This way, the melted wax is allowed to pool up in the center of the candle and spread out until it reaches the end.

If you think about it, it makes sense. When wax melts only in the center of the candle and then you blow it out, the center of the candle is going to be deeper than its sides, making it uneven. A good candle topper allows the wax to melt in a bigger pool, which will automatically spread out to the ends of the candle and allow it to stay flat and even all the time even as it gets shorter. If you are still hesitant that candle toppers work, you can experiment with it yourself.

First, light a large jar or pillar candle and watch the flame as it flickers about and moves. Then, place a topper on top of the candle and view the flame again. A lot of this has to do with the way that candle toppers are made. Candle toppers cover the top of the jar and have holes all over them. There is a single, larger hole in the center and dozens of smaller holes throughout the rest of the topper. The large center hole draws the flame upward and the smaller holes on the sides of the topper allow the replacement air to go back into the candle, resulting in a candle that burns much more efficiently and cleanly, not to mention more evenly.

Of course there are and below are a few of them:. There is also one word of caution for those who choose to use these toppers. When your candle has been burning for a while and you blow it out, never try to immediately remove your topper because just like the candle, the topper is going to be hot.

The candle burns even so you burn the complete candle, there is no well as happens without the topper. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
