Amy Lee is often ranked one of the hottest women in rock music. She was in a relationship with Seether singer Shaun Morgan from to Lee married Josh Hartzler, a therapist and long-time friend, in May Their first child, Jack Lion Hartzler, was born in July She received the award on June 18 in New York City. Amy is supporting To Write Love on Her Arms , a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. Her husband, Josh Hartzler , has a counseling background. On January 22nd, , Amy announced on her Twitter account the release of " Together Again " to the public, after the Haiti earthquake events - "Today Evanescence is releasing a new song, Together Again, and the proceeds are going to help Haiti!

Amy was asked to play piano on Veridia 's song, I'll Never Be Ready , and has performed it live with them several times whilst touring together. The song was released as a single on September 18, with a accompanying animated lyric video depicting New York and Tokyo amid the coronavirus pandemic. On tour, Amy uses a Baldwin baby grand piano with a keyboard insert a baby grand piano shell with an electronic keyboard instead of an acoustic piano on the inside.

Lee co-founded the rock band Evanescence with guitarist Ben Moody. Within a month, the pair were playing acoustic sets at Arkansas book stores and coffee houses, and they eventually recorded two EPs, Evanescence EP and Sound Asleep EP , selling them at various local venues.
In , Evanescence recorded the longer EP Origin. Whereas "Whisper" and "Imaginary" were altered before being included on Fallen , "My Immortal" is virtually unchanged, apart from additional string arrangements. Lee became the American chairperson for Out of the Shadows in This organization is an international foundation with the goal of providing education about epilepsy. Lee's younger brother, Robby, was previously diagnosed with this condition.
As each celebrity featured in the shoot was allowed to choose what they would be doing for the video, Lee chose to appear laying flowers on a grave. Her scene was recorded at Trinity Church in Manhattan, during which she wore a black velvet coat that previously belonged to Tim Burton. The song was also released as the first single from the album. Lee was one of the celebrity cameos featured on the show.
