Ataturk museum was educational. Ferry ride from Alsancak to Karsiyaka or Bostanli was amazing as well, you could see the whole city from the ferry as it was going further away. The city is very flat compared to where I come from , sunny and busy. We visited Ephesus and Pamukkale from Izmir, which was very well reachable by public transportation. Also the shopping mall Optimum is closeby via train. Furthermore, we walked around izmir and its many shops and took the Ferry to Karsiyaka and Bastanli.

Try getting a bike and explore the Promenade. It's a breeze and a good way to see a bit more of the place. Maybe a bit more English instruction as it was a bit hard to navigate especially during this pandemic.
