Why is wow so fun

It has nothing to do about familiar chores or old friends. I do not care about achievements, battle pets or mounts. I am also interested in the Raid Kill parses — how to play better and push the character even further than the last run. I like the ease of access. I can play when I want and choose what activities I spend my time on.

I certainly play the game for the game and nothing else. Having played pretty much everything since C64s on any imaginable platform, I still consider WoW to be one of the best games I have ever played. Honestly this sounds like a regretful addiction. This entire article reads like a cry for help. Maybe you should cancel that subscription and explore different things. There are plenty of 16 year veterans excited about the new things and the rehashing of old.

Wow is also very accessible with add-ons that let you do everything from practice boss mechanics to having complete control over your UI and several guides and communities to help you with anything.

I left after 8. Also remember this is a video game and video games have things to do that lead to greater rewards — sometimes when I hear people complain about dailies I wonder if that person would just prefer if they rolled a fresh toon, logged in, were instantly levelled to max and given all the gear on a silver platter without having to earn a lick of it. You can gear up from casual pvp, mythics or just by doing the weekly storyline.

It takes half the time now to level a new character from the start. Casuals have been able to experience raid content where they never could in the past. Regular dungeons these days are more like an easy mode dungeon, heroics are like regulars were and mythics are the new heroics and increase in difficulty so theirs effectively a much more diverse difficulty spectrum in the game.

Their ability to string together a narrative has ways been strong but they seem to improve each expansion. Their artistry is as strong as its ever been. I find there are three types of vanilla wow players. On the other hand if people play it because they honestly prefer it then more power to you! Those of us that do have been tired of hearing you complain for more than a decade. You are less important to the game than the guy who sweeps the floor at blizzard.

At least Bolvar knew what he was signing up for all those years ago Blizzard I was there, 16 years ago.

There was nothing more exciting than this loading screen — wonders await Blizzard Entertainment 16 years later I log into World of Warcraft: Shadowlands on launch day. Geeks before it was cool I used to laugh at how ridiculous this guy was… would never be me right? So what is Shadowlands actually like to play? Why buy Shadowlands? Why did I come back to WoW? If you are an old time player you remember this Mumble. Share this: Twitter Facebook. Like this: Like Loading Not making me feel any younger here!

You probably ganked me in Ratchett. It was the rival money. All that sweet sweet Everquest gold, nom nom nom. What was the trend?

Started writing this before Christmas I only just got around to publishing! Read some broadsheet newspapers and they will knock this out the park! The other thing solo players enjoy is crafting.

As I have just retired I will probably get all my alts to lvl 60! When it becomes one, we stop playing Like Like. LoL mumble, ventrillo ha the good ol days Like Liked by 1 person. Leveling you can overcome hurdles without a gear treadmill. Also Classic has a sense of community. No joke. I think its because everything requires work and every little thing matters.

Even the combat - managing resources is so important. Also, I think people are nicer to each other for many reasons but one major reason is that you belong to a server. Establishing a good report and reputation with your fellow server mates is also very important.

IMO its the class balance. Every class has something unique and amazing they do that nobody else can. And with that, every class can do something that defies the logic of WoW during the leveling process.

Hunter: No downtime, and a pet that can tank really well, allowing them to solo elites and multiple mobs! Warrior: Ridiculous tanks, and amazing DPS with gear, and I mean cmon their gear just looks amazing all around!

But when you really look at it, the specs all form this amazing mixture of balance. Taking any one of them out of your raid mixture is disastrous! The environment really is incredible. Retail has lost the RPG portion of the game. You have to actually interact with people. Now, my item level is fine.

My dps is fine. And yet I still feel put off whenever I have to go into a mythic dungeon. I know it is an MMO, and I know what that stands for, but the designers have done so much to turn this into a solo game that the mythic system seems almost out of place. Tedious and boring, just hitting refresh on the LFG tool. This is not my preferred part of the game. Both are interesting, with a bit of class flavor.

I really look forward to the parts of the game that are tailored to your class, race, or faction. It gives the game replayability. I think I preferred the shaman one, just because the new follower we got was an actual lore figure that I know and hate.

I was talking to someone and we reminisced about the Fangs of the Father legendary questline back in Cataclysm. Too bad Blizzard has moved away from such unique events. I have actually had a chance to raid recently. We have voice chat and a raid leader. Such a throwback to the good old days. In all my years of playing, I have never used a paid character service like a faction transfer or name change. This may be a reason to move to their server and join their guild. That would provide me another new experience.

My raiding has been on my tauren shaman. However, I can easily pull more single target dps on my rogue than I can on the shammy. Years of muscle memory, I guess. Still, I have made a good showing on the dps meters in our raids. If I pop Stormkeeper then my AoE is through the roof, and there are plenty of fights with adds. No matter what role I was playing for the good of the guild, my rogue was my main.

When I tanked on my pally in Wrath, I still played my rogue more. When I healed on a resto druid through Cata and into Pandaria, I still made sure to play my rogue first and foremost. My guild, having lasted since early vanilla, is now all but inactive. There are players that log on sporadically, but there are never more than on at a time.

I leveled a tauren shaman to have the chance to play with some friends. Which begs the question — is the shaman my alt? I spend more playtime on the shaman than the rogue. I have done Karazhan on the shaman, not the rogue.

I have cleared Nighthold LFR on the shaman, not the rogue. Subscribe in a reader. By Dinaer Leave a Comment. Categories: General. Thanks, Blizzard, for half a lifetime of fun. Why have I stopped? I was just reminded that you have to mine a node multiple times to get all of the ore. By Dinaer 2 Comments. Hello to anyone that stumbles across this! Anyway, if I get into the beta I may post a few thoughts here, mostly out of nostalgia. Happy Classic, all!

By Dinaer 5 Comments. But it seems that so many of the progression paths in the game run through mythics. For me personally, there are at least 30 reasons to play TBC instead of retail or any other game.

Here are 5 reasons why still it is fun to play Classic rather than Shadowlands: 1. Have Lots of Gold is Epic Gold has lost its value in the recent-most retail expansions.
