I've only worked at Hobby Lobby for a few months, but it already feels like family. I've learned a great deal about framing but I have a ton yet to learn. The employees are so friendly and they are helping me learn about the other departments in the store. Our truck delivery day is Thursday. It takes the total team to help in unloading and stocking the shelves in the store. Pros Fuul time great schedule and hours. Cons No cons so far. Getting into the christmas season and the season is busy and makes the time fly!
I really enjoyed working at hobby lobby decorating the tables and working with the different employees and the customers Home accents Former Employee - Lincoln, NE - November 7, I enjoyed working at hobby lobby it was a great atmosphere I enjoyed decorating the tables and working in home accents and working with the employees and the customers the CEO at that time didn't care much for him.
Jobs at Hobby Lobby. Retail Sales Associate part-time. Retail Sales Associate part-time and seasonal. Was fun to work there temporary but was let go after they set up the store and didn't need us any longer.
Nice people to work with. Good atmosphere.. I quit because I was basically told that I was one mistake away from being fired, even though I had no idea of these mistakes I was making. The manager over worked everyone without being very friendly or helpful. Pros Decent pay. Cons Poor management. I was a part time employee and expressed multiple times that I wanted to go full time. I found a full time job elsewhere and gave my two week notice. They were not happy at all. They then scheduled me over 40 hours for the next two weeks with my part time pay.
I was furious. The job itself was not horrible, just super fast paced and busy all the time. But the management was the reason I left. The management had favorites and treated part time employees so awful. Busy around seasonal. Not many fast cashiers. They have some growing to do. I worked at Hobby Lobby for over 3 years. I started as a cashier and moved my way up to Assistant manager. The thing I loved most the fact that we always had projects to do which made the day go by fast.
Hours weren't too terrible until they started making us come in at am sometimes. There was usually overtime if you wanted to pick it up which was nice. Definitely very physically taxing on your body, lifting boxes, climbing ladders, setting shelves, and just being on your feet all day on that hard ground.
Everyday was a different day and you never knew what project you would be working on until you got there which is what I enjoyed. The biggest downfall to me was that new employees were making as much as some of the ones that had been there for years. There definitely should have been raises given for each year to even that out. Best retail store I have ever worked at and definitely one of the hardest working jobs I have ever had! Pros Get to decorate and be creative. Cons Very physically demanding.
Nice people. I got to get a lot of hours when I wanted them, good time off if you ask for it. Order Picker. Salary Satisfaction. Health Care. Dental Insurance. Vision Insurance. Life Insurance. Paid Time Off. Stock Options. Overall Reviews at Hobby Lobby 1.
You'll regret being born if you decide to work here I'm serious. Unfortunately I don't think there is enough space on my computer hard drive to write out all the negatives about this workplace With it being the district store and bigger than most it was always a life and death struggle to work here.
From management acting like working here was open heart surgery to constantly nit picking your work to the point of personal insults it soon became a place where you would get anxiety coming to work because you knew you would get reprimanded from your previous shifts on things you didn't do right to being blamed for things that weren't even involved in.
Your coworkers are probably the only thing that will help you get through the day if it isn't some customer mad at you for you being sold out of an art supply it will be management being personal with you and a pure lack of boundaries or respect.
I cannot tell you how many times I had seen employees treated unfairly to the point where it would become normal to see employees leaving the office crying. Most of the new employees that came for the seasonal roles would quit within either the same day or within the next week or so after being thrown in on truck day our hardest day to be seen if they could "weed out" the newbies. I can guarantee you after one day of working on the Pros Fellow coworkers.
Cons There are too many to name, just read the review Framer Arizona Jul 30, Can be a fast paced work environment, only because of massive under staffing. Contradicting directions from Corporate level to store level. Example; a typical Saturday morning Manager or Co-Manager, a Framer and a cashier for the first 2 hours of opening Associates cannot provide excellent customer service AND complete busy work in allocated time.
Nice and sweet in your face, but backstabbing, gossip riddled co-workers, Closed Corporation Family Greed and excessive Micro management via middle managers. Hobby Lobby does NOT follow their own company mission statement.
Offering our customers exceptional selection and value. Serving our employees and their families by establishing a work environment and company policies that build character, strengthen individuals, and nurture families. I very much liked what Mr. I have no doubt that when Mr. Pros Nothing special. Cons Minimum wages is all they pay for Part Timers, no advancement.
I worked at hobby lobby for about 3 years. They teach you lots of safety rules of which none are abide by, and hardly ever taken seriously. Shoplifters are actually encouraged by the companies business practices and ridiculous placement of security cameras. The registers and inventory system are stuck in the dark ages. Nothing is scanned and all the prices are typed in by hand. You have to memorize what goes on sale by the ad signs that are switched out through the store each week.
Pros 30 min lunch. Cons Read the review. Retail Sales Associate Virginia Jan 20, He also allows his son to go through employee files when is son is a janitor and has no right going though people's personal information. Company Menu Hobby Lobby. Job Title All. Location All. Date Rating. Company Culture. Growth Opportunities. People You Work With. Person You Work For. Rewards You Receive. Support You Get. Company-Industry Rating Comparison. Got it! Hired and kept way too many seasonal people, management was not there to help you succeed, changed my hours from 30 hrs a week to only 12 hrs with no warning very often.
Cons No benefits as part time , no paid days off, changing schedules. This is a great company to work for. I love its mission and values, and I worked with some good people. Covid and supply shortages have made working hours unstable for certain positions, and overtime almost non-existent. I would still be working there if not for that. Cons night shift, unstable hours. Working during the seasons is the most stressful as you have to be on your feet all day and your lunch hours may be pushed back as people are lining up to pay and leave.
Pros Friendly staff. Cons Short lunches. I worked for hobby lobby during the pandemic. I contracted covin while working at hobby lobby. I was told, I would not receive pay for the 14 days I was sick. Even though, the government of the United States, stated people with Covid in the work place stay isolated at home.
And would get paid for this leave of absence. Hobby lobby said, " I did not have P. And I would not receive pay, for this time off. Cons Rude management. They will work you and have you do 3 jobs at once and expect you to remember everything.
KNOW where every item is located in which department and the sale paper! If you work the register the cashier manager will stand so close up on you that if you turn your head, you will get a kiss. It's very uncalled for. She would comment on everything I did wrong and I got no praise or encouragement for a job well done by her.
Her negativity was consuming and made my anxiety worsen by making me shake. They employees would complain about people leaving I paid attention to how I was treated vs other new employees and am not happy with the outcome. She was going to contact upper management for me being one min late..
I wasn't late just running behind more than usual. My time was Why was I later than usual? Made supper for my children and cleaned. I was at the register at 1 but I decided it was enough when she decided to laugh after a customer belittled me.
Do NOT work here. If upper management cared they would've already done something about it. Pros Sundays off. I enjoy my job but the pay cut just ruined it especially since I am a college student and already struggle with money. Pros Full time pay. Cons Part time pay, long hours on feet , etc. It's a job Dept. Head Former Employee - Missouri - September 30, Truck day isn't fun but it's not a bad job. Glitter everywhere at Christmas time.
Never work on Sunday. High up management isn't as nice. Pay is good for retail. I worked the holiday season and it was the perfect temporary job for me.
Not hard, flexible hours, and decent pay for what I was doing. I learned a few things about crafting while I was there. We get a fair wage working for Hobby Lobby unless you're full time.
We also have all sundays off. Lots of stress in my position. Like most retail companies they use and abuse salary associates. Pros Sundays off and fair wage.
